Dr. Shundale Mixon

Dr. Shundale Mixon

Dr. Shundale Mixon is an Alabama native who attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she was a multi-sport athlete, graduating with a dual Bachelors Degree’s, in both Biology & Respiratory Therapy. She then went on to earn an additional Bachelor’s Degree in Vision Science as well as a Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Mixon completed her externship at the Omni Eye Services in Atlanta Ga, where she concentrated on various aspects of ocular eye diseases including glaucoma and retina.

She has participated in an extensive list of organizations, being recognized as the Treasurer and Vice President of the National Optometric Student Association, AOSA Student Liaison, and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists. She was inducted into the prestigious Gold Key Optometric Honor Society.

Her passion for helping others has transpired into two humanitarian mission trips to Nicaragua & Belize, as well as giving back to her community by educating and promoting awareness of the effects of diabetes, and assisting with vision screening services for children. Dr. Mixon is honored to be selected as a Resident in Ocular Disease for the upcoming year, 2018-19.
