Dr. Alurkar is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio, and successfully completed his ophthalmology residency at LSU/Oschner Hospital System in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he was exposed to an amazing population of patients with a broad spectrum of eye disease and trauma. He furthered his medical education by completing a prestigious Fellowship in VitreoRetinal disease with Drs. H. Michael Lambert and Eric Holz at RVT, Retina and Vitreous of Texas in Houston. Dr. Alurkar has a special interest in treating vascular diseases of the retina including diabetes, macular degeneration and vein occlusions. He is an expert in Anti VEGF injections, such as Avastin, Lucentis and Eyelea, as well as one of the first retinal surgeons in Atlanta to use Jetrea for Vitreomacular adhesions.
He is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has given back to the communities he has lived in by participating in Prevent Blindness America and Diabetes Screenings.
