Hailing from Ghana, Dr. Abu commenced his optometric journey after earning his Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from the University of Cape Coast in 2015. In furtherance of his knowledge and clinical acumen, he proceeded to pursue a four-year postdoctoral clinical research fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) between 2017 -2021, focusing on early detection of glaucoma progression.
Driven by a relentless pursuit of academic and clinical excellence, Dr. Abu enrolled in the Advanced OD program at Pennsylvania College of Optometry of Salus University and he graduated with honors (summa cum laude) in 2024. He amassed a diversified clinical expertise from completing externships in neuro-ophthalmic disease, contact lenses/private practice, and from the VA hospital setting. He also received numerous awards/recognitions while in school including becoming a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (2023) and being named recipient of the prestigious Rick Bay Excellence in Eyecare Education Scholarship in Optometry (2024).
Besides his professional pursuits, Dr. Abu is a devoted family man, happily married with two children. He is thrilled to join Omni Eye Services Atlanta for his residency training and is poised to deliver exceptional care to patients within and beyond the Greater Atlanta area
