Dr. Valliammai Subramanian, OD, a California native, earned her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology with a minor in Chemistry from San José State University. Her passion for optometry flourished during her time as a board member of the pre-optometry club at SJSU, solidifying her decision to pursue this field after gaining valuable experience as an ophthalmic scribe during her gap year.
She received her Doctorate from Pacific University College of Optometry. At PUCO, she actively participated in the Eye Van Outreach program, where she conducted over 300 eye exams for the underserved community in the Portland area. Additionally, she served as a board member of the Student Optometric Association and contributed as a teaching assistant, instructing five classes during her third year of optometry school.
Throughout her fourth-year externship, Dr. Subramanian gained diverse experience from various settings, including a private practice specializing in cataract care and ocular disease, a naval base emphasizing primary care skills, a co-management practice focusing on primary care and ocular diseases, and a veterans affairs site specializing in intermediate to severe stages of ocular diseases.
Dr. Subramanian is excited to join the team at Omni, and looks forward to providing the best possible care to all her patients.
