AcrySof IQ Aspheric Monofocal IOL
Monofocal IOLs provide clear vision at one point of focus, usually distance. Manual cataract surgery at Omni includes the AcrySof IQ Aspheric Monofocal IOL to restore vision after their cataract is removed. Standard Monofocal IOLs can produce glare and haloes around lights, especially at night and can interfere with driving. However, the AcrySof IQ Aspheric Monofocal IOL reduces glare and haloes and can make driving much safer.
In the past, all cataract patients had to wear reading glasses and/or bifocals after cataract surgery because only monofocal IOLs were available. But thanks to recent advances in lens implant design, the surgeons at Omni Eye Services can now provide you a broader range of vision the AcrySof ReSTOR Multifocal implant. This lens is designed to enable you to see both near and far with little or no dependence on glasses. Patients who elect to have Laser Cataract Surgery vs. Manual Cataract Surgery can also have their astigmatism corrected when they elect to have the AcrySof IQ Monofocal or the AcrySof ReSTOR Multifocal IOLs.
The vision simulator below shows how the Monofocal IOL works. left-click on the slide bar at the bottom of the image and slowly slide your mouse from left to right, to see the animation.
Which lens you choose will affect how you see for the rest of your life so it is important that you fully understand your options. Your surgeon or a member of our staff will be happy to discuss these options with you and the associated costs to upgrade to one of our premium IOLs.
